day by day
Time passes. Ideas change. Love is endless so my desire to finish Jeopardy Project. I have written some code for the core of the Jeopardy. I have to work on it more, it does not seem perfect yet. It is not a matter of programming it is a matter of design. Programming is easy but the perfect design changes everyday. Every morning that I wake up with this project in my mind I realize a better way to implement a property. I wish I had money to work on this project full time. I feel alone. I am alone. People are interested in the project but do not contribute. People have dreams but don`t work for them to make true. People are lazy even to dream.

Jeopardy Architecture
We shall not work on writing our own Java api to interact with linux kernel. We must use iptables userspace command.
First of all iptables` structure my change (will change) in the future. libiptc2 is on the way. If we write our own version we have to spend too much time on it. Out aim is to create a graphical tool not a kernel modifier.
We want to combine some other tools like traffic shaping and ids with Jeopardy. Will we write lots of api`s for them. No. We have to use the tools that are already written. As always said "there is no need to invent the wheel again".
Wheter we will write or not an api for iptables I will continue to study on netfilter. I must share this idea with other members.

Traffic Shaping
I believe that a firewall shall have the capabilites to shape the traffic. It seems an easy task to do in Linux. I am working on it these days. Jeopardy will probably have traffic shaping capabilties, this will be the way it differs from other firewalls.

Daily, continues efforts....
I need this. I have to work daily. Every day at the same hour. What ever happens I should not change my routine work hours.
I am feeling bad because of not working on netfilter as I used to do. I have lots of things to do in the company. But I am getting everything on their ways.
Monday morning shall be a good start.

Project jEopardy
It is time to write some about the project jEopardy.
Everyone using linux (iptables command) should (at least once) wish to use a graphical interface which can be used from any place at any platform (even a cell phone). One unified user interface for all your linux based firewall management needs which can be accessed via a browser or used as an application. One who is expert in networking can insert some sort of "rocket science rules" to the firewall while a newbie can click "close http access" after reading the explanation above the button.,
Netfilter Team has build an excellent firewall software which is developed day by day by the power of open source software. Linux lovers already started to use it but companies or linux (even computer) newbies hated the cli which is called "black screen" by those people.
Then we see some graphical user interfaces. Maybe the most succesful one is fwbuilder which lacks of working on different operating systems. It works only on linux :(. Not extendible to new netfilter pathces. A plain firewall managament intarface. (I don`t say it is a poor software but it is just a firewall interface)
jEopardy will be more than a firewall management software. It will also be network monitoring software with ids capabilities (it may work with snort ?) It will be a network oracle :) The only disadvantage of jEopardy is, it is still in the planning state. We have to work hard to create the best tool ever written for firewall management.
One who is involved in this project will learn how to program in Java or C, will learn networking concepts and security. Join us!

Honeymoon
Last week I had visited Bali and Singapore. It was my first visit to those places also my first flight... (Seeing the world from that altitude is an excellent experience.) Singapore is a beautiful green city which is desgined perfectly.
I read a book named "Pay it forward" (written by Catherine Ryan Hyde) while sunbathing under an umbrella. Once you start to read it you can not leave until it is finished. The book was inspiring. One who knows about GNU can easily understand the idea behind the book. On the flight to home I watched the movie of "Pay it forward" which was far away from the quality of the book. so bad :(
I bought another book named "The Wisdom Of Crowds" (written by James Surowieck) at the Singapore airport which is about the power of crowds. It has also a section about Linux. I will write more about the idea behind the book after finishing it.
Finally I am home, I have lots of works, projects, ideas to do. Tomorrow will be a good start for all !
